Project three: remote design of a master bedroom


Sometimes it's more efficient and cost-effective to carry out our design and styling services remotely. It's also ideal in these times of COVID restrictions and precautions.
This case study is a perfect example of how we carry out this service and shows what is possible through communicating over the phone and email (with the help of the Royal Mail and couriers).


Step one: the initial 'meeting' and brief
The initial 'meeting' took place over the phone with photographs of the room sent over email.
The client explained what they had, what they wanted to keep and what they needed. They also provided an an idea of the colours and styles they liked.

Step two: scheme proposal
Taking into consideration the existing beige carpets and the grey fitted furniture, which were all to be kept, we created a scheme in their favourite shades of plum/aubergine (a bonus for us!!). We found the most gorgeous wallpaper which incorporated the three main colours: plum, grey and beige and matched it with a co-ordinating paint colour and fabrics for roman blinds, scatter cushions and a window seat pad. The proposal also included a requested opulent buttoned headboard to be bespoke made in the same fabric as the seat pad.

The initial digital mood board was emailed to the client for consideration with sample swatches of the wallpaper and the fabrics sent in the post.
The client measured the feature wall and their own existing roman blinds enabling us to calculate the costings.

Step three: ordering and delivery

Once the proposed scheme is approved, a client has the option to run with the ideas themselves; sourcing all the items from retailers, or they can continue onto the next phase of our service offer: the supply. In this case the client, happy with the costings, asked us to purchase everything too. The various orders were placed and everything was delivered to the client.


Step four: installation
The client has a further option, for us to organise the various tradespeople to install everything and have our stylist provide the final flourish. In this particular case they had their regular decorator already organised and were able to fit the blinds and headboard themselves.
